Lymphadenopathy and Lymphoma

This chapter provides a simple approach to the diagnosis of lymphadenopathy and the classification, natural history and treatment of malignant lymphoma. The biggest decision is when to do a biopsy in a given case. When a diagnosis of malignant lymphoma is made, it is important to distinguish between Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin lymphomas and in the latter to determine if the NHL is indolent or aggressive in nature. In all cases, age, stage and subtype factor into treatment decisions. Students are reminded to keep their specific objectives in mind when reviewing this section.
